The Best San Diego Beaches for Surfing
One of California’s most popular and best-known pastimes is surfing. San Diegans are known for powering through waves as if the sea and the surfer are momentarily melded into one being. Grab your family and hop into your RV for a San Diego camping trip of a lifetime. Whether you are a novice surfer or an expert, these shores are sure to hold waves just for you.
Plenty of beaches are centrally located near great RV camp resorts, such as the KQ Ranch Resort in Julian, California. San Diego camping has become more frequent in recent times as the costs of renting hotels inside the city is prohibitive for a lot of families. Don’t let high hotel prices sway you away from taking the surfing trip you have always dreamed of. RV parks and campgrounds are an affordable way to be close to the Pacific coastline and its excellent surfing
Families that take the dive into San Diego camping can expect to find novel experiences around every bend. With the money you save by camping, you can hire a surf instructor so everyone in the family can get out on the water. The adrenaline rush from riding on top of giant waves or merely the thrill of finally standing up on the board, are fantastic bonding experiences that you will all remember for a lifetime.
For more experienced surfers, head over to Black’s Beach. This is a secluded spot with great breaks that is rarely crowded. It’s truly a hidden gem in San Diego County, but it takes a bit of a hike to get there so it is not recommended for a short family jaunt into the waves. Scripp’s Beach caters a bit more to surfers of all experience levels. It is far easier to get to than Black’s Beach and, as such, can sometimes be a bit crowded. For a variety of conditions and waves, La Jolla Reefs are a good bet, with its sparkling water and unforgettable surf.
